Ig Henneman (1945) trained as a violist, and is self-taught as a composer. For several years she received guidance from Robert Heppener. Her first compositions were songs for the pop group FC Gerania. Commisions subsequently followed, for film, theatre and concert music, such as "How slow the wind" for eight trombones, "Acht nederlandse dansfantasien" (Eight dutch dance fantasies) for the choreographer Ted Brandsen, and "Dickinson", seven poems by Emily Dickinson set to music for the Dickinson Tentet. As a violist, she presently works principally with her own improvising groups, The Henneman Quintet and the Henneman String Quartet. These two groups together, with addition of Ab Baars, Michael Moore and Ilse van de Kasteelen, form the Ig Henneman Tentet.
