Patricio Wang

PATRICIO WANG (guitar, bass guitar) was born in Santiago de Chile and studied sonology, architecture and composition at the Universidad de Chile. He has lived in Holland since 1976, where he graduated at the the Hague Royal Conservatory in 1983. From 1978 until 1986 he was a member of Hoketus. Apart from this, he has written compositions for various ensembles, such as 'Dialecto de Pajaros', for the group Quilapayun with Gerard Bouwhuis (piano) and 3 percussionists. He has also written music for dance, cinema, theatre and video. As a freelance musician on guitar, bass guitar and panflute he regularly performs with orchestras such as the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Schoenberg Ensemble, the Concertgebouworkest, the Nederlandse Opera and the Nederlands Balletorkest. He is the leader of the Chilean group Quiilapayun, based in Paris, with which he has been touring all over the world since 1981, and a member of LOOS.
